During the time of World War II in the years of 1939-1945 was an era of devastation and torment. Hitler began one of the most powerful times in the world. This war traveled across the world too multiple continents and lasted six long years. There were 433 Medals of Honor awarded during World War II, and 219 of them were given after the recipient's death. From June 6, 1944 to May 8, 1945 in Europe the Allies had 200,000 dead and 550,000 wounded. Germany lost 110 Division Commanders in combat during this war.

During this time Queen Elizabeth II served as a mechanic and driver in the war. U.S. soldier John R. McKinney held back over 100 Japanese soldiers single-handedly in WWII.

World War II ended when the Americans joined war in revenge of the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor. America contained atomic bombs that they dropped on Japan forcing them to surrender and end the war.
